Metricly Extension Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Metricly Chrome Extension ("Metricly", "we", "our", "us") processes information.

1. Scope

Metricly is a Chrome Extension that analyzes the page you choose to inspect and provides:

  • PageSpeed/Lighthouse audit results
  • SEO and social metadata checks
  • Tracking pixel/tag detection signals

This policy applies only to the extension and related Metricly audit proxy infrastructure.

2. Information Processed

To provide extension features, Metricly may process:

  • Active tab URL (only when you run extension features)
  • Limited page-level technical signals required for audits (for example meta tags, canonical/robots tags, and detectable tracking-tag markers)
  • Extension settings and cached audit state stored locally in chrome.storage.local

3. Information Not Collected

Metricly is not designed to collect or sell personal data such as:

  • Name, email address, phone number, or account credentials
  • Payment or financial account data
  • Health data
  • Personal communications
  • Precise geolocation
  • Keystrokes

4. How Information Is Used

Processed information is used only to:

  • Run requested audit and analysis features
  • Display analysis results in the extension UI
  • Store user preferences and local cache to improve usability

Metricly does not use processed information for advertising profiles, data brokerage, or credit eligibility decisions.

5. Third-Party Processing and Data Transfer

Metricly does not sell user data.

When audit features are used, request data required for PageSpeed analysis (for example URL and selected strategy) is sent to:

  • Your configured Metricly proxy endpoint (for example Cloudflare Worker)

That proxy requests data from Google PageSpeed Insights API (https://www.googleapis.com/) and returns the response to the extension.

6. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Metricly stores settings and cached audit state locally in chrome.storage.local.

Data is retained until one of the following occurs:

  • You clear browser/extension storage
  • Cached entries are overwritten or removed by the extension
  • You uninstall the extension

7. Chrome Permissions

Metricly requests permissions strictly for extension functionality:

  • activeTab - access the active tab after user interaction
  • tabs - identify active tab context for audit workflows
  • scripting - run content scripts to read page-level technical signals
  • storage - persist user settings and cache
  • Host permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*, plus your configured proxy host) - analyze selected pages and request audit data

8. Security and Remote Code

Metricly does not download and execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly as extension code. Executable extension code is packaged with the published extension build.

9. Children's Privacy

Metricly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective date above.
